China’s Zhangye Danxia Landform

Hidden in the Chinese frontier of Gansu province is the Zhangye Danxia Landform, a sprawling range of brilliantly colored mountains. Eons of tectonic activity and erosion have revealed stratified layers of rock, varying wildly, and completely free of vegetation  due to the aridity of the region. Check out the whole photo set here.
