Teehan + Lax Labs have created a new open-sourced tool in creating hyperlapse videos (videos using time-lapse techniques combined with moving camera angles) pulling the frames directly from Google Maps. What this means is that, through the T+L Labs website, it’s possible to create a custom hyperlapse of any point in the world that that is accessible via Google Street View, by simply setting a Start, Finish and Focal point.
While the site is limited to 60 frames of animation, the source code is available to developers for further experimentation via Github.
Watch a hyperlapse that we made of crossing our beloved Burnside Bridge in Portland.
