In Carey’s words “The route I would take and the things I planned on seeing were a mystery card. I packed my bags on Wednesday May 28th, 2014 and met my cousin on Mt. Hood. The journey would be taken with his truck and trailer.”

Journey 007 – The Road to Glacier https://experimentwithnature.com/01-journeys/journey-007-the-road-to-glacier/ https://experimentwithnature.com/01-journeys/journey-007-the-road-to-glacier/#comments Wed, 23 Jul 2014 00:50:15 +0000 http://experimentwithnature.com/?p=3737 One of our in-house designers, Steve Ebert, recently went on a 2,600 mile roadtrip in a loop around the Northwest and brought some of our shades along. The trip began from our hometown of Portland, OR and snaked through Idaho, into Yellowstone and finally up through Glacier National Park. Just after the 4th of July, the trip coincided with some of the busiest times of the year at the two National Parks, but also provided some amazing weather and views.

Check out some of Steve’s photos below and see his entire photo essay HERE.

Journey 006 – Without Purpose https://experimentwithnature.com/01-journeys/journey-006-without-purpose/ https://experimentwithnature.com/01-journeys/journey-006-without-purpose/#comments Wed, 02 Jul 2014 16:57:19 +0000 http://experimentwithnature.com/?p=3702 Journey 006 features Jesse Morrow and crew as they travel the American Southwest, head up the California coast, and return to their home base of Seattle. Originally their trip was planned to support a coffee roaster initiative, interviewing individual roasters, shooting photos and compiling it all into a book of sorts. After several roasters pulled out of the project last minute Jesse was left with a decision to make– call off the trip or continue as planned, without a true purpose for the trip.

MULTIPLE EXPOSURE https://experimentwithnature.com/03-found/multiple-exposure/ https://experimentwithnature.com/03-found/multiple-exposure/#comments Wed, 19 Jun 2013 18:20:56 +0000 http://experimentwithnature.com/?p=2845 Christoffer Relander was born in Finland December 1986, and is now based in Raseborg, his home town. He became interested in art already at an early age. When he served the Finnish Marines between 2008-2009 he fell in love with photography. Today he is a well known and awarded fine art photographer with work done for national as well as international clients. His work has been featured in notable newspapers, magazines and websites such as La Times, Oprah.com, Nikon Pro Magazine, Colossal and DC Photo.

Christoffer is most known for his multiple exposures images between man and nature, which he does in camera while shooting with a DSLR. He uses a Nikon D800E with a range of prime lenses – usually a 50mm f/1.4 and a 85mm f/2.8 tilt-shift lens.

“My goal as an artist is to be true to who I am, and aim to create art that will stay around for its good cause.” -Christoffer Relander

BARRY UNDERWOOD https://experimentwithnature.com/03-found/barry-underwood/ https://experimentwithnature.com/03-found/barry-underwood/#comments Thu, 06 Sep 2012 17:25:08 +0000 http://experimentwithnature.com/?p=2204 Anyone who’s taken Digital Photography 101 knows that long-exposure photos are easy to make but near-impossible to perfect. Leaving the shutter open, the artist will blindly “paint” the light onto the open exposure and hopes it turns out the way they envisioned. In Barry Underwood’s case, he has not only mastered the art of the long exposure, but has seductively integrated his vision into the landscape to create images that look straight out of a fairytale.

Bon Iver Deluxe Video Series https://experimentwithnature.com/03-found/bon-iver-deluxe-video-series/ https://experimentwithnature.com/03-found/bon-iver-deluxe-video-series/#comments Fri, 13 Apr 2012 21:00:29 +0000 http://experimentwithnature.com/?p=1761 We were pretty excited to see Justin Vernon of Bon Iver wearing the Shwood Bushmills shades yesterday:

We were also excited to discover the Bon Iver Deluxe video series. Directed by cinematographers Isaac Gale and David Jensen, the series features seven videos of songs from Bon Iver’s self-titled album. While each video is diverse in concept, they all feature stunning cinematic manipulation of natural imagery. The full series can be found here.

The Vestige installation boasts six life sized mirrored figures installed at the David Marshall Visitors Centre in Aberfoyle Scotland. Using a plexiglass derivative called PMMA, these sculptures simultaneously distort and reflect light, allowing for these ghostly images to appear almost liquid.
