The Largest True-Color Photograph of Space

We found this story really inspiring: 28-year-old amateur photographer, Nick Risinger, traveled over 60,000 miles and took 37,000 photographs to piece together the largest true-color photograph of the stellar sphere ever. Photographed mostly in the Western U.S. and South Africa, the project is best experienced via the interactive website that features a full spherical version of the night sky. What’s really cool to us is that 1) it’s the best map of the sky that’s ever been made (yes, better than the version found on Google Sky which is from 1980), and 2) it was made by an individual with an idea — and some good cameras.
