EXPERIMENT No. 2

Backcountry Nest

Journey into the backwoods of Oregon with the Shwood crew to construct a community hideaway in the trees. The over sized nest is intended to inspire others to make the trek into the woods surrounding Mt. Hood. Those who successfully locate the fort are encouraged to add onto the structure and share with others. The first person to discover the nest will be greeted with a free pair of sunglasses stashed inside! Happy hunting…

FIND THE SHWOOD BACKCOUNTRY NEST

Coordinates: N 45º 21.217′    W 121º 34.261′

The nest is located off HWY 35 in the Mt. Hood National Forest.  While driving north on HWY 35, the entrance to the road is approximately a half mile before mile marker 70.  We have placed a few landmarks along the way to help point you in the right direction.  Keep on eye out for the following…

If you happen to be the first person to locate the nest and find the sunglasses, please take some photos and send to press@shwoodshop.com!  Even if you’re not the first to discover the nest, send us photos of your adventure along the way.

GOOD LUCK.

What gps coordinate system are you using? NAD27 or NAD83?

Greetings!! What a great project idea…really appreciate your efforts to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors…and MHNF, in particular.

I was looking on a map to try to hone in on the potential location of your nest. It appears the Mileposts on HWY 35 in the MHNF run from the 50s to the 70s. I show MP 44 on HWY 26. I could be wrong about that…probably just need to hit the road to see.

I will definitely keep an eye on your fututre projects,
    Troy
